General » China: Best places. . . worst?
Hi Nicole,

I graduated from Global TESOL in 2004, and have now lived and worked in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China for two years. I love it here - though there is definitely a lot of pollution, all the amazing experience I've had more then make up for it. There is nowhere else in the world quite like China. Some cities are better then others, but honestly - I don't think you should make your decision on where to live and teach based on pollution levels. Start with deciding what kind of experiences you want to get out of your time here - where you want to travel, what you want to see, how comfortable you are with limited comforts of home - then go from there. In the larger cities you have most comforts of home, in the smaller cities you won't. But in the smaller cities you will experience more culture and authentic Chinese life then you will in say Beijing or Shanghai. Weigh the options, then go for it! And good luck:)
