when applying to teach overseas

Hi,

I'm interested in teaching in thailand, and I sent an email to one of the schools. My question is how long should I wait before contacting them again or if they haven't yet contacted me is it because they are not interested?

Thanks
On occasion applicants may find that they are not getting the level of response from schools applied to as they would have hoped for. There may be many reasons for this. Unlike in many western countries, employers in Taiwan, Thailand and Korea, also China are less likely to notify applicants that their job application has been received. In most cases local employers only reply to applicants who are of interest to them and applications from individuals who are deemed less suitable are often deleted without reply. This is an unfortunate situation but is nevertheless a part of job hunting in Taiwan, Thailand and Korea, China and other parts of the world.

Remember:
1. Select an appropriate email address.
2. Check job criteria carefully to ensure suitability.
3. Provide employers with requested information and any other information that may be relevant.
4. Be respectful and professional in all correspondence that you send.
5. Take the time to write a specific application, (CV) for the actual position you are applying for and make reference to the terms of the position to show that you have actually read the position information.
6. Check your correspondence for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors prior to sending it to an employer.
7. Then wait for a response, and while you are waiting, look at other jobs and send in your cover letter, dont just take the first job.
Hello Diana:

Exactly when did you send your application to them?

As Ross mentioned, it may be that they only reply to those applicants they are interested in. They may receive so many applications that they have no time to do it in another way.

I'm not sure about Asian schools, but there are quite a few European schools that halt, or significantly slow down operations in the summer months. There may be nobody of authority at the school you sent your application to at the moment. If that is the case, you may not hear from them until mid to late August if they do plan to get back to you.

Hey,

Thanks for the responses!! I sent them my resume and what not 1 week ago. I guess its still early but I have never applied so I got a little worried and anxious to be quite honest.

I will wait it out until the end of the summer and see what happens!

Thanks Again,

Cheers!
