Hello!

I have my TESOL certificate back in February and due to personal reasons, I couldn't start looking for a job then and it's August now and I'm ready.

Where do I start? I tried to pull up the search engine on here for South Korea and there's none in there....

Please help! Any info will be very much appreciated.
There are quite a few job listings for south korea. do you have skype? i could send you over the links when i have the time
Hi there!

Please send over the links to my personal email at nat1216@hotmail.com if you don't mind. Thanks! :)
go on daveseslcafe, they have a south korea jobs board page.

private school jobs are very easy to get but you should try to talk to the previous teacher as there are some unreliable schools thay may hold back pay

i'm with the Epik public school program, they have just recruited for aug/12 and soon accepting applications for the next batch in feb/13.

i just renewed for my 3rd yr with epik
Im currently teaching in South Korea, been here 3months now. I secured a position using korean horizons, they were super helpful.
Anyone thinking of coming here should join www.waygook.org it's a website specifically designed to help teachers in south Korea.
Thank you so much all for all the information. I will check out these sites.

@ Asif - I actually wanna work for a public school program if given the chance. Thanks again for the link. :)

@ Rachel - Are you teaching in a private or public school?
the Epik public school program is http://www.epik.go.kr/

they will start accepting application in sept for feb/13 if you can wait that long

pay/vacation its better than private schools but its not as fullfilling as a teacher as you can have large classes upto 40 students that arent interested so discipline problems.

private usually has 12-20 students and more 1-1 but longer hours and less vacation. also check out the employer with the previous teacher as they may not pay you on time and hold back pay.

there are no money problems in the Epik public school program
Hi Nathalie, yes I am at a public school. I agree with everything Asif said, its not the most rewarding job, I have 30 students in a class and most don't really want to learn English, my korean co-teacher gives me a few lines each class otherwise we teach straight from the text book using the accompanied CD.

For the most part I enjoy being in Korea, and seeing another culture. I probably wont renew my contract here simply because I want to see more of the world. The money is good and the lifestyle is easy unfortunately for me I don't like Korean food at all so I struggle in that area.
Hi you guys!

@ Asif - thank you so much for the information you have shared. Budget is pretty tight right now but i'm willing to wait. The big reason why i'm shooting for public school is so i can visit my family during the summer break coz that's very important to me. :)

@ Rachel - thank you for your input as well. I'm a little anxious about having that many students but i like kids so i think that could be a good start.

@ Asif and Rachel -
1. Resume - i already have one except that it doesn't have my picture on there. Is this a requirement for all resumes sent?
2. Work location - Will i have choices on where i want to work at or do they just assign you at random?

Thanks again for your help.... :)
Hi Asif,

I've checked out the Epik website and the number of positions open still says 0. Do I wait until there's a number on there or should I go ahead and start applying?

Thank you so much for your help.
