Hello,

Has anyone had experience with the Kadiköy Maarif College in Istanbul?

I was just offered a position there and the contract almost seems too good to be true. $7000 US a month non taxable, a free 2 bedroom apartment, fully furnished (employee pays utilities), free round-trip airfare and airport pick up.

I am interested in going, but I have heard a lot of horror stories about these jobs in the middle east being scams. Does anyone have any advice for me on what I should be looking for to figure out if this is truly legit?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as this will be my first overseas contract.

Thanks!
I have no honest answer for you, but the rule of thumb usually holds true, " If it seems too good to be true....."
Actually there is one way to check it out.. I noticed the email contact address is a ".live" id, find an email address on the school website and see if they can direct you to a contact there.
Have you tried asking teachers on Dave's ESL Cafe? Someone on the forums there will be able to give you a clear answer...good or bad.
Hello,

I actually looked into this a while ago. That site they have for the working visa wants about $1000 to process a visa. I knew right then and there it was a scam, and although I did not fall for it, I sympathize for the people who do, because of the excitement they get from getting such a "prestigious job" with high pay and awesome benefits.

I emailed the "school" back telling them I knew this was a scam and they were not getting one dime of my money.
