I am currently working on completing my TESOL Certification in Costa Rica. I will either be looking for a job in Costa Rica or Chile( Santiago, Valparaiso or Vina del Mar). I could also use information on teaching in Chile. So you arrived there without a job i assume? and are currently looking for one?
Si...I am compiling my CV today and will shortly get it out to some schools. I was advised that it was easier to find work once you are on the ground...we will see in time :)
I am currently living in Santiago, Chile. I arrived here in November 2010 and managed to find a job within the first month. It is much easier to find work once you have arrived. Id be happy to help if you have any questions.
So I am getting the consensus that it is easier to just come down to Chile and hunt for a job than seek one out over the internet? I would feel much better if i had a job before going but if that is the best way than i may do it. And yes i would love to know about your visa situation too! Whether you are getting a work permit from your job or if you will have to be on a tourist visa and border cross every few months?
I applied for a working holiday visa for a year before i left home. Theres no use really in trying to look for work over the internet as most places dont put anything up. I had the same problem before i arrived. The best advice I could give you is once your in Chile to really get out there and put out your cvs in person. Try to speak to the person in charge and personally give them ur cv. I found this to be the best way because usually they will interview you right then and there and you can make a great first impression. Also if you spend your time emailing and posting cvs the majority of them will never receive a reply. I hope this helps :)
