EPIK Program

Can anyone give me some information regarding the EPIK program in Korea? From the posts I've read on Dave's ESL Cafe, its reputation seems rather ambiguous. I've found both positive and scathing reviews. It's difficult to find an intelligent, objective overview of the program. Moreover, most of these reviews are from 2003-2004, and I haven't been able to find a good thread that's been written in the last year.
Hi,

I am not sure what you have heard but, I have taught for the GEPIK program and it would be quite similar to the EPIK program.

Teaching in Korea is amazing! However if you are not used to working and do not have a student loan to consider paying off you may find working 9 to 5 difficult. Some teachers have an amazing experience and some complain the whole year. I think it is all in the way you look at it. Rule number 1 if you don't like working with kids or young adults 5 days of the week then this job is not for you. Rule #2 if you have trouble working with people and being flexible this job is not for you. Rule # 3 if you are not familiar with conducting yourself professionally then again this job is not for you. But if you like great food, putting your best foot forward, being reasonable, appreciating the foreign experience and being able to travel in South East Asia on your holidays then give it some consideration.

Thank you Gary, I appreciate the info. It totally sounds like the job for me! As you know, signing a contract for a one-year commitment in a foreign country is not something to be taken lightly. There is just so much distortion and negativity on some of the teacher forums it's hard to know what the truth is. I'd like to be as informed as I can before I go.
That does sound interesting, thanks :)
