Hi,

I am a Canadian Tesol graduate who is now living and teaching in London, England. My husband and I are being sent to Singapore for 3 months with his job and I would like to continue teaching there. Does anyone have contacts for schools there, insight on finding jobs there, any help would be great! We will likely be leaving early to mid January 2010.

Thanks,
Reannan
hello,
My name is Dylan and I'm also a Global Tesol graduate. If you are still in Singapore, my wife and I could possibly help if you are still residing here. If not, all the best.
Hi Dylan,
My name is Anitha. I just started with GTC. Are you still in singapore ? I am planning to move to singapore in June or July 2011. Just would like to know how the job market is. Would I be able to explore any thing online or should I be there. Iam really not sure how it will work. Can you please suggest me and help me.

Thanks

Anitha
Hi Anitha. We are still in Singapore until 2012. The job market is great if you are qualified and poor if not. As for online searching, its quite limited but there are schools that do ask for teachers.
Just a side note, if you are planning to move here and search for jobs, save up some $ as it's quite expensive. There are cheap ways around but mostly, the cost is quite high. Once you have a job here, $$ is not really an issue.
Let me know you qualifications and I can possibly help you out with schools.
Cheers,
Dylan
Hi Dylan

Can you please give me your e-mail id, so that I can send you all my information.

Thanks
Anitha

Hello,
I've been interested in teaching in Singapore for a while now and I've kind of a had a general plan to move there later this year. I have a questions about finding a teaching job over there. When is the best time to start looking for a job? Are school always hiring or do they kind of have a time period they hire at, like just before a new semester starts? Also any other information you could give would be most appreciated, thanks.

Jesse Shafer-Oliver
Hi Jess, I just started looking into it. I do have any info yet as soon as I gather some info I'll let you know.
Dylan did gave me some info. He is very helpfull.
Hi Jesse and Anitha,
Singapore is relatively organized when it comes to hiring and follow terms. If you are looking at international schools then they follow terms and therefore you would be hired probably for the next school year(august/september)
Singapore loves enrichment schools/centers and most kids go to these kind of centers 5/6 days a week making them very busy kids! These are specialization centers so they usually only learn one subject.
As for hiring, I imagine these centers arent as rigid to hiring. You can try: Jan and Elly, Kumon, Morris Allen, Lorna Whiston and I Can Read.
As for international schools, google it and alot will come up.
Hope that helps.
